PERSONAL INFORMATION:

Physical Description: Six foot one, generally stern in appearance until his mouth opens. He has dark blonde hair, light blue eyes and well-defined facial structure. Surprisingly strong due to a youth of sports and hobbies involving fitness and strength. He has a scar on the right side of his mouth, vertical, clipping the top of his lip. It was not removed by choice. His hair is usually shaved short back and sides, then styled with minimum amount of product, if any. He has one tattoo of the Starfleet ‘Star’ and another of the St George Cross. Each on either shoulder.

Personality Overview: Militaristic when on duty, a joker when off of it. His father was strict but fair throughout his childhood and it reflects in his personality. If something is work related, don’t expect him to slack off. He’s driven, compulsively so, to the point of ignoring the personal feelings of those around him to succeed professionally. Apart from his apparent insensitivity to others at times, he is known as a team player and will stick his neck out for others, if he believes them to be in the right. A strong moral compass, but can be overruled by orders or procedure. He embodies everything about Starfleet, but edges towards a military officer than a scientist or explorer. This discipline has gotten him to where he is today and he clings to it for comfort, like a religious person follows their laws or creed. Off duty, he will try to make people laugh, his personality flows freely and he forgets about the uniform, as best as he can. Though he does not always succeed. He enjoys making friends, especially ones similar to him, who take their job and role in Starfleet seriously.

Ambitions: Full-career and to climb as high as he can go. Command his own starship someday and to retire as a flag officer, are his two highest goals. He enjoys playing drums, studying and performing wing chun (Form of Kung Fu) and tries to excel in these pursuits.

Interests: Sports, music and his career.

He takes an interest in all things Starfleet. It’s history, it’s greatest officers, ship names, battles, treaties and famous encounters. From a very early age he always wanted to follow his parents into Starfleet. Growing up, he played Rugby in primary and secondary school, but learned to love football as he grew into his teenage years. He represented his school for four years and also played in Starfleet Academy’s first team.

He plays drums as a relaxing hobby, though he embraces all aspects of it, he’s more proficient at some styles, such as jazz and rock. In his teenage years, he struggled with bullying, gangs and violence in school. This was eventually resolved but he had no outlet for that energy and negative emotions that built up inside him, so his mother sent him to study Wing Chun. He does not use it compete, embracing it’s historical and cultural background entirely, though sometimes he can be seen practicing the combat sequences and forms on the holodeck.

History: Born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, he grew up similar to most boys in Southern England. He loved sports like most of his peers and fit into his social circles based upon that. He progressed through primary school without incident, but in his first years in secondary school, he really excelled, showing the teachers and staff what he was capable of. Unfortunately, this was not to last.

By year nine, aged fifteen, he got involved with the rivalries between schools. This escalated to bullying and eventually gang violence outside of school. Fortunately for John, his father intervened before it went too far, but not before it left his mark upon him. (The scar on his face.) Speaking with his father, his father gave him the strange idea to keep the scar, to remind him of what happens when strength isn’t controlled, when it is thrown around carelessly and without purpose or calm thought behind it. It used to be a lot worse, but now blends in well with his adult form.

He left high school, getting good grades even by his standards and dropped between several classes in college. He wasn’t sure he wanted to pursue a career in Starfleet and spent sometime studying art and music. Eventually, this faded, though his father always believed it was linked to a relationship he had at the time. (Which ended suspiciously in time with his decision to join Starfleet.)

He was taken on his first application, much to his surprise considering how long he’d waited to send the application through. Slightly older than most of his classmates, he was looked up to because of this. In his first year in the academy, he’d learned more about responsibility and command than most cadets would within the grounds of the academy. Graduating from Starfleet Academy, fourth in his class, he received his first assignment, to Earth Space Dock. Many were envious of his first assignment but it fell on deaf ears. John wanted to go far and wide and travelling only as far as Earth’s orbit was not what he wanted. Nevertheless, with the encouragement of his father, who even spent a detachment there with his son for four months, he kept his head down and worked hard. Eventually this paid off. He received two commendations for excellence, one of which was presented to him by his former headmaster, Admiral Thomas.

His reassignment to the Navajo came shortly after receiving the second commendation. Riding the momentum of his success, he traveled to the Navajo with high spirits and burning ambition.
